A few months ago I agreed to cycle round the Isle of Wight (30 miles, not the full 60) and thought that I had plenty of time to get ready.
Of course I did not remember and I was kindly reminded on Friday and asked if I still wanted to do it. I’ve been out on the bike, but not nearly as much as I should have but I thought why not !
So I am now off to catch the ferry over…I’ll try and post a few pics if the weather holds out…
I’m a keen gamer and have been ever since my Commodore 64 days, so you can imagine my happiness back when the Nintendo Wii came out and you could download and play the back catalogue of Nes, Snes, N64 and megadeive games.
I was even more pleased when I realised I could get a controller for my Wii that was in a Snes shape !
This bad boy was only released in Japan and I had forgotten I had ordered it months ago until it showed up thus morning !

Yesterday as part of a launch at work we were filming an apprentice spoof - I was the lucky candidate who was going to site quietly and play Nick.
Sadly we couldn’t find a good wig so we ended up with White hair spray !
I think I look quite distinguished…
This weekend has been a good one - not only did I pick up Wii Fit this Friday thanks to an eager Mum who wants to play ! (congrats to Nintendo’s marketing dept there !) but I also managed to snag my copy of GTA IV - 4 whole days before release. Gotta love independent retailers who don’t care about breaking street dates !
Add in our first BBQ of ‘08 and you got some mighty fine fun right there.

I’ll post up some impressions of GTA when I’ve spent more time with the game (the first hour has been surprisingly annoying) - off for some Yoga now with Wii Fit.
This weekend I took the role of white van man whilst moving my mum from London to Bournemouth.
After admitting my spatial awareness is shocking and almost clipping a parked car I got the hang of it and rather enjoyed driving the big man van !
A year ago in Virginia Tech a tragedy unfolded where mentally disturbed Seung-hui Cho gunned down 32 students and staff.
A year on and I am shocked at what I heard this morning - there is a a lobbying group of 22,000 people that think the solution to this growing problem is to allow student and teachers with gun liscencs to bring weapons into the schools, to defennd them selves.
Unbelievable, I couldn’t think of a worse idea. Sure fight fire with fire(power) - I just hope that some of the people for this are still in shock at what has happened, either that or they are fucking brain dead idiots. I hope for them its the latter.
Legally allowing guns into the schools will only end in more bloodshed for sure and is a cowards way of dealing with this out of control issue America has.
Back when I was a Nokia N95 owner I used a great application called Fring.
Fring enabled me to use Skype and other features - all for free. However once I moved onto the iPhone I lost the ability to Skype from my mobile…until today.
Fring have now released a pre-release version for the iPhone. The app runs nativly (via a jailbroken phone of course) - it really is great seeing this app up and running.
Click here for instructions on how to install…
I’ve also got a Fring widget to add to my blog as well which looks rather funky.
7 months ago Rock Band was released in the US - the next evolutionary step in the popular Guitar Hero franchise… a drum set, microphone and lead / bass guitar is packed into the set allowing you and three other mates to live those rock ‘n’ roll dreams.
Now us Europeans have had to sit nice and quiet and wait paitentially with no hint of a release date while our gaming friends across the pond got to rock out right nice.
This all changed today as EA announced that we will be rocking out on May 23rd - HOWEVER as always we get the shit end of a deal - as a thankyou for waiting patiently we get royally shafted on the game price.
Rock band is priced at $169 (approx £84) - we get the privilage of pay £180, just shy of $380.
I for one shall be importing the game from the US now, keeping the instruments and purchasing the stand alonee UK game for £50 - then sending the US game to EA with a foul obscenity filled letter.
After a team photo this afternoon my work decided to spend the rest of the afternoon playing a boules competition.
My fellow web developer and me were teamed up and we ended up beating our two directors in the final ! Check out the award ceremony below…
Discussing a missing cup of tea at an appointment with a fellow geek…
J : That cup of tea was jolly nice round [business] wasn’t it
Me : oh yeah ! always good that invisible tea…
J: could have done with some bourbons or something
Me : custard creams
J : the ying and yang of biscuits
Poetic.
